The design is unique:- a strong, stiff
aluminium frame supports slender inflatable hulls.
The light weight, only 95 kgs (210 lbs)
makes
Catapult sensationally
fast for a 5m (16ft–4in) boat.
It hit 17.03 knots at Weymouth Speed
week with peaks of over 20 knots.
The
light weight allows this performance with a 10 sq.m. sail area, so
that it is easy to sail and remains forgiving of mistakes.
The hull shape (with maximum draft well aft) make tacking quick and
predictable, in contrast to other cats
An ingenious and easy method of righting after
a capsize, tilting the rig, and is the
only catamaran that has this easy-righting system

Catapult
is the only true
single-handed racing catamaran, with no need for assistance when
rigging, launching or sailing.
The frame and two-part mast
fit
easily on a roof rack, and a small car can drive at full motorway speed
The inflatable
Hypalon hulls are extremely resistant to damage, and the boat can rest
on them at the waters edge to be slid in
For
cruising and beach sailing it is easily sailed by 1 or 2 people
The light beach wheels (sliding down in the
centreboard slots) can be simply carried on cruises to give full independence.
