Chairman’s Report from Stuart Ede

Events programme

Thanks to Nigel Harrison’s strenuous efforts in promoting attendance, numbers at Bassenthwaite held steady. At Bala, where we are welcoming one or two new or newish faces and even the odd prodigal returning to the fold, they have not only stayed high but improved over last year.

It was agreed not to keep to the arrangement of alternating sea and inland sites for the Nationals, and that the choice of venue should be influenced by the popularity and attendance (although the Programme should keep both sea and inland settings)

Open Meetings had the advantage that the Catapult fleet could join an established event.

It was agreed that Nigel would email all members to get views on venues for next season, and forward these to Stuart, so that he could approach clubs.

Website

Alastair hopes to further develop the Tactics and Rules Forum on the website, to include examples which came up at actual events.

Alastair said that he would welcome input from members (suggestions for improvement, pointing out problems or errors, and additional content) and he would be approaching members for contributions (articles and photos)
It was agreed that the TT results would be posted on the website and updated as events were completed.

Treasurers Report: Paul Ellis

The main income was from subscriptions, and from the levy made at events for prizes.

Main expenses were on trophies, and RYA membership

Overall, there had been an excess of expenditure over income but for the current year membership was somewhat up, and expenses down, so that he expected the Association to break even in the next year.

It was agreed that the Membership fee would remain unchanged at £20 annually.

Membership initiatives

The coaching offered at Bala had been successful, with positive feedback

Stuart noted that opportunities to try out Catapult sailing had been a success at his own club at Filey, leading on to membership. (The website offers contact details with John Peperall as Secretary, to arrange a trial sail with an owner.)
