    THE 2012 SEASON UNFOLDING

To kick off the TT season  Bewl Valley Reservoir gave ideal conditions with sunshine and Force 4-5 (with testing gusts) on Sunday April 15th. Paul Ellis built a good win in close racing over four races, and Alex Montgomery took two firsts before having to depart on the red-eye to Dubai overnight. (Report and Photos)

A big fleet enjoyed absorbing racing back again at Bassenthwaite for the second TT event, the Bank Holiday meeting 5th-7th May (see 2010 photo on Home Page) Two days of gaining every inch in light conditions were followed by a blow on Monday as the front came through. Gareth Ede could count 5 wins to dominate, and John Terry was an equally consistent in handling the varied conditions to gain a convincing second, in close racing through the fleet.

Catapult rejoined the Rutland Open Meeting for the Bank Holiday after the successful event last year. John Terry dominated in changing weather and wind, taking eight firsts to surge into lead position on the TT Leader Board (above.)

The next event was also a return to familiar waters, at Calshot for 7th-8th July, joining the club racing for two back to back races on Saturday, and then their annual races round and back into Southampton Water up into Ashlett Creek and its ancient tide mill and quay, with appropriate relaxation between races. George Evans quietly took races steadily to win. (Report and Photos)

One of the season's highlights, the Bala Gala, delivered again on July 21st-23rd, with three days of serious racing and a successful Pairs Race ("Improvers" paired with "Veterans")

Alex Montgomery emerged from a tight "front three" race battle to add another National Championship to his record of success.
