 From Stuart Ede, CCA Chairman:

Catapult Association members had the sad news that Fred Woodley died on 23rd April.  Fred collapsed a few days before and unfortunately did not respond to treatment in intensive care. Our deepest sympathies go out to his wife Eve, and the family. who had often joined Fred at his continued attendance at CCA events

Fred was a stalwart of the Catapult circuit for many years, competing well into his seventies, though increasing ill health had limited his sailing of late. Many of the longer standing members of the Association will have known Fred well. He was a very lovable character, always laughing and joking and regaling us with fascinating stories from his life as a sailor in the Royal Navy. The highlight of his career was competing at the Royal Tournament in the finals of the famous field gun competition.

Fred's funeral at Kettering on Thursday 5th May was crowded with friends and family, including the Association represented both officially and by Fred's many personal friends in the Association. His many personal accomplishments and pleasures were affectionately remembered.
